The incessant honking of horns. Shouts of yellow cab drivers. The hammering of heels on the pavement. New York City’s sounds are like white noise for locals. And this season, that familiar cacophony served as a reminder that fashion week had resumed — albeit outdoors. As the show began outside our 151 Mercer store, models paraded down the runway to Lou Reed’s Street Hassle, the iconic Talking Heads single Burning Down the House and Vitamin String Quartet’s instrumental rendition of Smells like Teen Spirit, compiled by lauded DJ and producer Michel Gaubert. Following the nostalgic lineup came a show-stealing finale. As models prepared for their final walk, drummer OMGCORNELIO and dancer Lil Buck — who specializes in a street dance form native to Memphis where he grew up, dubbed jookin — gave a magnetic performance that set the morning’s block party vibe in motion.

Here, the full soundtrack and a closer look at the day’s festivities.
