Chinese actress Wang Luodan, here wearing Tory’s Lexi dress, is making waves overseas. Just last year, for instance, she picked up a Golden Rooster — China’s version of the Oscars — for Best Supporting Actress. Her next project? The upcoming big-budget kung-fu film, Rise of the Legend, from the producer behind Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. We got to chat with the rising talent here.

A first-time visitor to China must see…
The Forbidden City first. It’s the best presentation for Chinese traditional culture and royal majesty. Then, after looking into the past, it’s time to pay a visit to downtown Beijing.

When in New York, I always visit…
No matter how tight the schedule is, I always squeeze in time to see a wonderful Broadway musical.

New York fashion vs. Chinese fashion…
I personally like New York style very much — it’s simple and effortless. There’s not too much decoration, but they build up the style by layering — that is what I believe in and follow. These days more and more local Chinese designers are combining the latest international trends with Chinese traditional elements. It’s very sophisticated.

My secret beauty trick…
Balanced diet, never on a diet. Healthy beauty from deep inside is the best.

Best beauty advice I’ve received…
Keep working out — from a Nike professional trainer.

If I wasn’t an actress, I’d be…
A kindergartener, maybe. I adore the pure world of children. I majored in early childhood education before I got into the film academy.

My Chinese zodiac sign…
Pig
