Tory details the major themes of the Fall/Winter 2015 collection.
Marrakech meets Chelsea
“This season, we thought about Marrakech meets Chelsea. It’s really that London bohemia period in the late Sixties, early Seventies. There was a sense of freedom but with polish and eccentricity. The collection was about updating that mood for today. We did rich tapestry jacquards, interesting details, a mix of textures, deep colors and more.”
Life’s Rich Tapestry
“We worked on beautiful tapestry patterns this season. For the coats, we used a classic men’s wear silhouette – very streamlined – and introduced intricate Moroccan and Turkish patterns. The colors are quite beautiful, too – these gray blues and winter reds.”
On the Diagonal
“The silhouette of the season is the bias cut, a flattering look that couldn’t be easier to wear. We did it on leather, on chiffon, on jersey… It’s really about how it drapes the body. Some of the bias-cut dresses are embellished with mirrors and studs that follow the lines of the body.”
It’s About Tie
“I love the pairing of a bow blouse and a flared pant, but this time, we styled the bow like a men’s tie. It’s actually separate from the shirt. I love that versatility – you can tie it or not at all or just use it as a scarf. We even did that look with a caftan gown.”
She’s Crafty
“We experimented with a lot of techniques. One of my favorite looks is this incredible coat made from bonded suede and crackled leather that’s been stitched together with crochet. Another is a coat that features sequins woven into the fabric – it’s subtle shine.”
