
Hard to belive, but in the late 1950s, famed Abstract Expressionist Willem de Kooning turned down an opportunity to exhibit at The Museum of Modern Art. His reasoning? “Not ready.” Now, the museum will host its first-ever retrospective of de Kooning’s work, featuring 200 works of art spanning seven decades.
