“My parents, Buddy and Reva, used to travel for six weeks every summer, taking a big steamer ship to Italy, France, Greece, and Morocco. Their passion for adventure was infectious, and travel has always been one of my great loves. It’s about getting lost, experiencing new cultures, and discovering new things. When I was in high school, I remember reading a Mark Twain quote that has stuck with me since: ‘Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.’

For me, it’s also an endless source of design inspiration. One of our very first pieces was inspired by a tunic that I found at a flea market in Paris. Since then, the colors and details I’ve encountered on trips to places like India, Morocco, and Japan have found their way into other collections of mine. I am looking forward to the new adventures — and new ideas — that this year holds in store.” — Tory Burch
