Three years ago, Bea Tufo left life in New York City for “the outdoor-oriented, more relaxed and balanced mountain lifestyle” in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Here, we catch up with the yoga instructor and avid skier —
who is featured in our holiday campaign shoot
— about winter skincare, slope style and all things Jackson Hole.
Jackson Hole in three words…
Outdoorsy. Sophisticated. Western.
Why Jackson Hole is like no other place…
I could go on forever about how special Jackson is. I love living in a small town, having a house and having a backyard.
I also feel very lucky to be able to spend a lot of time outdoors, as I have learned this is vital for my mental health.
Best ski run in Jackson Hole…
Either Rendezvous Bowl off Sublet Lift — we took this run during the Tory Sport shoot
— or something in the Hobacks, which you bootpack up to. I also skin up and ski down Snow King
for a good workout with my dog.
Best place for après-ski in Jackson Hole…
is where I spend most of my après time. They have great cocktails and food.
I also like Old Yellowstone Garage
and the Mangy Moose
, on occasion.
Favorite yoga studio in Jackson Hole…
Pursue Movement Studio
(biased)! I teach yoga and megaformer there. I am also one of the yoga teachers for Yoga Today
a locally-based yoga company that shoots outdoor classes in the Jackson area and streams them online to a global, subscription-based community.
Favorite thing about the holidays in Jackson Hole…
The town puts up holiday lights all over the town square, which is magical.
Thanksgiving and Christmas also mark the beginning of a much-anticipated ski season, so it is always a happy time.
Best place for a healthy bite in Jackson Hole…
Healthy Being Juicery
is my go-to healthy spot. It is an organic cafe with cold-pressed juice and healthy,
delicious food. I also love Persephone Bakery
for yummy breakfast and lunch.
Your go-to breakfast…
I will usually start my day at home with an espresso shot, a wellness shot
(turmeric, ginger, cayenne pepper, lemon), a smoothie and/or a hard-boiled egg. And then always a coffee with almond milk.
Your go-to skincare routine to get you through the long winter…
I have invested much more time and effort into my skincare routine since moving to Jackson.
The climate is so dry here and the sun is really strong; I really felt the effects on my skin upon arrival.
This has led me to be more proactive and mindful (and slightly crazy) when it comes to skin health and care.
In the morning after showering…
I always wash my face with Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser and use an Ursa Major Essential Face Wipe.
I also lather my entire body with Ursa Major Perfect Zen Body Lotion. Then I rub some Circcell Face Oil on my face and,
if I have time, use a jade roller for a few minutes. Next I put on some Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Correction Eye Serum.
I always use Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Oil-Free Moisture on my face to top things off.
I wear very little makeup. I usually put Bare Minerals Tinted Moisturizer on (with an SPF) and use Glossier Boy Brow for my eyebrows.
I carry and use Ogee Lip Oil and some sort of deep moisturizing hand cream throughout the day.
I always wash my face, use the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel and put Dr. Dennis Gross C+
Collagen Cream on my face. Then I lather my whole body in Dr. Bronner’s Coconut Oil.
For extra moisture…
Two to three times per week I will do a mask at night. Depending on what the state of my skin is,
I do any of these: Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Hydrating Modeling Mask, Dr. Dennis Gross Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur Mask,
Tata Harper Clarifying and/or Purifying Mask. I also get a moisturizing facial once a month.
Ski style inspiration…
We have these two coffee-table books in our home called The Stylish Life: Skiing
and The Ultimate Ski Book: Legends, Resorts, Lifestyle & More
They are filled with my ultimate ski style icons. I love the vintage ski slope looks from the ‘60s and ‘70s.
Ski style icon…
My forever #1 is Brigitte Bardot. She skied in tight white pants, enormous round sunglasses and fur-lined jackets.
She also had amazing après looks with retro ski sweaters, leather gloves and fur boots.
My ski style…
I wear enormous Astis fur gloves with leather tassels and beading. I also ski in hot pink Black Crows skis!
A funny behind-the-scenes moment from the Jackson Hole shoot
Skiing in tight leggings with freshly curled hair and a full face of makeup was a hoot.
We ran into some friends early in the tram line and they were very confused...
Favorite thing you wore on the Jackson Hole shoot…
I absolutely love Tory Sport's bright-colored retro sweaters
