details

Blooms on black: Our Promenade Tunic Dress features a ditzy floral print inspired by a Seventies pantsuit that belonged to Tory’s mother, Reva. An elegant piece from our fall runway, it has a peasant-sleeve bodice balanced by a mid-length skirt, all done in fluid silk twill. The top’s contrast trims feature trapunto stitching — an artisanal technique used on riding boots and saddles — tapping into the season’s equestrian theme. Gold buttons at the back of the waist and cuffs give this artful style a refined finish.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful print; tailoring is not for everyone I really loved this dress on the model online, and I liked it even more out of the box. It's a great vintage-y floral in a high quality silk twill. The tricky thing is that it is cut pretty loose (tunic-like), and I feel it could be more flattering on my tall, slightly boyish frame. Full disclosure: I actually love how it looks, but my hubby told me (under duress) it's not as flattering as some of my other dresses. I'm kind of okay with that, as it's obviously not a slinky number type of dress. I think I could easily wear it in my low-key but professional work setting. Still undecided about whether to return it.
