Word of Mouth: Sugarfina Sweets

The story behind Beverly Hills candy shop Sugarfina is like something out of a rom-com movie. Founders Rosie O’Neill and Josh Resnick met online and, on their third date, went to see a screening of the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Something clicked. Why shouldn’t there be gourmet candy… for adults? They talked. They brainstormed. They left their jobs, traveled the world researching confections and, in 2012, after nearly three years of dating, launched Sugarfina, which just opened a second outpost in L.A. It’s a tale as sweet as, well, their ice cream sundae malt balls, gummy piglets, honey-infused jelly beans (above) and champagne marshmallows dipped in 24K gold.

Tastemaker: Eric Wilson’s Summer Getaway

“I go away to the Catskills. I love the peaceful quiet of the woods.” — Eric Wilson, InStyle Fashion News Director

Here, Kate talks to us about her business, Petal by Pedal, and shares a few insider tips on floral care.

“You could say that I am a student of photography, and I am,” photographer Garry Winogrand once said. “But really, I’m a student of America.” And, indeed, walking through his new retrospective at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is like time traveling back, getting a glimpse at Postmodern America from New York City to San Francisco and all points in between. Winogrand captured that era like no other — from the streets, cataloguing the every day, decades before street-style photography would be de rigueur. And the Bronx native was incredibly prolific, shooting some 26,000 rolls of film in his lifetime and an extra 6,600 rolls he himself had never seen, many of which are being printed for the first time for the exhibit. Garry Winogrand is on view till September 21.

Tastemaker: Cindi Leive’s Upstate Getaway

“My summer getaway is definitely my place upstate. We have an old farmhouse that’s about two hours from here, and there’s nothing to do, which is perfect. It’s just about food and drink and swimming and more food and more drink.” — Cindi Leive, Editor in Chief of Glamour

Double Take: Pamela Skaist-Levy & Gela Nash-Taylor

For Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor, Founders of Pam & Gela and Juicy Couture, the July 4th weekend is all about beaches, clam bakes, tennis tournaments, fireworks and friends. “The day unfolds with everyone going from house to house in the Malibu sunshine eating, drinking and hanging out,” says Pamela, “like a small town block party.” But that’s just the beginning of the summer season for these two, who share more than just a business (and authorship of their book The Glitter Plan). Here, discover all their summer loves.
